Hold the Ground is not about bears.
I can’t even remember when we recorded it by I have a feeling it was around 2006/7. Every now and again for some reason a rash of unsolicited and therefore unexpected comments appears on one of our tunes and it happens on this more than most. You can link to Hold the Ground on Soundcloud here for free but only for a limited period as that tune will be made private on Soundcloud once it’s published as part of a limited edition EP to be released in the near future. So fill yer boots.

OK This is where we are up to with this tune. There is a lot going on at the minute with preparations for the live album but just to remind peeps that we are building up to a completely new live set here is “I’m coming through” which I am in love with. Apologies to all snooker lovers everywhere for the ending. The idea is suss and the execution is not as good as it should be. Other than that it’s amazing!!!
We will be releasing a live album in a few weeks time and from the listens we have been giving it ourselves and to other peeps it is gonna sound amazing even if I do say so ourselves. It’s all live, no overdubs and taken from live performances at Bury Met and other venues. Line up is me, Phil Pops, Adam Goodwin and Pablo with major sound wizardry from Andy Pops. After I-tunes, Spotify and Amazon or whichever platform we’re on have taken their cut about 65-70% of the sale price goes directly to the band and that money will be split equally 5 ways between the peeps mentioned above.
To give you a feel for it, one of the tunes “the hand of man” will be posted to stream on here, soundcloud, fandalism and anywhere else that’ll have us in the next few days. We’re digitally re-mastering all of them using special digital re-mastering technology like graphic equalizers and a button called treble so back off!!!!
Oh yeah and rehearsals are coming along nicely for new gigs in 2015. Go here if you want to check them out.
love

Doing anything for the first time is daunting enough. Doing ‘it’ for the first time is an experience laden with so much potential for embarrassment that I don’t even know where to begin. Disappointment is a racing certainty it would seem. The names of those involved have been changed in order to avoid further heartache.
I think in my teenage years ‘it’ was considered something to be gotten out of the way. If there was a ministry for sexual quality then I would have been arrested and well hung (arf!!), in the end I was neither.
I have a habit of putting too many words into very small space but on this occasion I think it works but as usual poor Phil ends up tumbling over them and struggling for breath, so a bit like my first time really (wow this is gold).
“If you just do what you’ve always done you’ll just get what you’ve always got”. I’m not sure who said it to me first but I think it was a guy called John Piprani who is a bit of a guru type. Always with the new ideas and the new project he is the embodiment of this saying. He never stands still and I guess at some times that might be exasperating for those around him but dull – never dull.
He was talking about the armed conflict in Northern Ireland which as far as the onlooker can tell was a triumph for those who advocate never changing and sticking with what you know. What each side was saying to the other was “I’m going to kill you because of something your ancestors did”. Lunacy – That’s what this song is about.
Selfish Gene 29th November 2014 – featuring Adam (Lead Guitar), Mike (Vocals, Guitar), Wayne (Vocals, Drums), Phil (Vocals, Bass)
